2001 Special Olympics Mississippi State
Summer Games...
We thank each of you for giving so freely, each year, your time,
talents and skills so that the Special Games can be the success it is
for our Athletes. As you know, Special Olympics Mississippi
Athletes train year round and compete at local and area levels before
participating in State Games, this in itself is an accomplishment.
Each Area Director, Coach, Family Member and Volunteer should be proud,
knowing that they play a big part in these Games by teaching and
training our athletes to reach their obtainable goals.
The Special Olympics
World Summer Games are held every four years; the 2003 World Summer
Games will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 20-29 June. The Special
Olympics World Winter Games also are held every four years; the 2005
World Winter Games will be held in Nagano, Japan, on 26 February-5
March. The first Special Olympics World Games was held in Chicago,
Illinois, USA, in 1968.
